Creating and implementing On Country conservation
Funding context
One of the very first projects Rendere supported was establishing a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the Golden-shouldered Parrot on Cape York Peninsula, one of the last strongholds of this beautiful but critically endangered species.
Under the direction of lead ecologist Dr Steve Murphy, the Artemis Nature Fund went on to develop and implement a successful conservation program focused on restoring grassland habitat. In 2023, Rendere agreed to support the team’s ambition to take the Artemis model to the national stage by transitioning to Conservation Partners.
Funding support
Rendere provided back-of-house and communication support for the creation of Conservation Partners and its mission of designing and implementing practical on-ground conservation programs on privately owned or managed land with significant environmental values.
These programs are developed collaboratively, based on genuine, respectful relationships with landholders, custodians and managers.
Ongoing involvement
Rendere Strategic Director, Jim Phillipson, is co-founder of both Artemis and Conservation Partners (CP). Two Rendere-associated staff are on the CP board and Rendere supports an administration staff member.
Rendere believes CP has enormous growth potential and the ability to showcase how conservation stewards can effectively collaborate with private landholders.
