Investing in conservation careers
Funding context
In sharing the Australian Wildlife Conservancy‘s commitment to empowering the next generation of conservation leaders, Rendere made a transformative investment in AWC’s Conservation and Ecology Internship Program, which has so far given over 120 young leaders the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field.
About AWC
Recognising the rapid decline of biodiversity in Western Australia, in 1991 Martin Copley AM established a wildlife sanctuary in the south of the state. Today, the Australian Wildlife Conservancy manages or partners with organisations working on properties around Australia, including Queensland, central Australia and the Northern Territory.
These operations, which cover almost 13,000,000 hectares, involve on-ground monitoring, feral species control and fire management to protect 1,800 species threatened with extinction.
Rendere provides strategic advice and support to the leadership team and core funding to the internship program, which has helped many interns secure positions in leading environmental organisations. In other words, Rendere’s investment is helping to provide a rich source of talent for the sector overall.
